Barbara “Barb” Joyce Wolf, 90, of Hooppole, IL, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Burial will follow at Hooppole Cemetery, Hooppole, IL. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, before the funeral service. Memorials may be directed to the Barbara J. Wolf Memorial Fund.
Born October 15, 1934, in Princeton, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of Lornie and Doris (Homes) Thompson. Barbara graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1953. On January 30, 1955, she married Quentin Wolf in Kewanee, Illinois. They later divorced. Throughout her life, Barbara was a dedicated and hard-working woman. She contributed nine years of service as a Tonac operator at Products Unlimited in Prophetstown and also spent several years sorting corn at Wyffels Hybrids, served as a radio operator for the Hooppole Fire Department, and as an EMT for the Hooppole Fire and Ambulance service for many years.
She was an enthusiastic horseback rider, enjoying many hours exploring trails on horseback. She was a devoted supporter of the Hooppole Fire Department, finding great joy in watching their annual water fights. Furthermore, she was one of the original members of the Hooppole Fun Day committee, contributing significantly to the community's festive spirit. Barb loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sandy Miller of Galva, Penny (Rick) Diericks of Geneseo, and Beth (Dee) Johns of Geneseo; eleven grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren with another on the way; ten great-great-grandchildren with another on the way; and brother, Jerry (Wanda) Thompson of Kewanee.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Lornie and Doris Thompson; son, Bryan Lee Wolf; former husband, Quentin Wolf; great-grandson, Cameron Bender; great-great-grandson, Liam Croegaert; and brothers, Tom Thompson and Lewis Thompson.
