Betty Lou Bowman

Betty Lou Bowman, 82, of Geneseo, passed away on September 4, 2024, at Genesis Health-Silvis, IL. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the funeral home with Rev. Melva England officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery-Geneseo. Betty was born on March 8, 1942, in Geneseo, the daughter of Alfred and Opal (Hatch) Schmidt. She graduated Geneseo High School Class of 1960 and married Richard E. Bowman on October 22, 1961. He preceded her in death in 2014. Betty was an avid reader, loved doing needle work like knitting and cross-stitch, embroidery work and doing puzzles. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Geneseo and was in the Violet Circle. She was also a member of the Geneseo Women’s Connection, Henry County Homemakers and Spring Creek Grange.

Those left to cherish her memory are children; Mark Bowman of Geneseo, Ruth (Ed) Kolpacki of Lemont, IL, and Mary (Jeff) Parrott of Colona, grandchildren; Ashley (Justin) Ricail, Dave Parrott, Megan Kolpacki, and one great grandson, Noah Steven Ricail on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Opal Schmidt, husband, Richard Bowman and daughter-in-law, Barbara Bowman.
