Betty Agnes Jones

Betty Agnes (Quayle) Jones, 96, of Geneseo, IL, passed to eternal life on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Allure of Geneseo, surrounded by family.  Betty has been a resident of Allure for the past 7 years, where she was loved and cared for by the staff.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4-7 pm, at Vandemore Funeral Home Geneseo, IL.  A private graveside service will be held Friday May 15, 2026.  Grandson-in-law, Pastor Chris Cundiff will officiate.

Betty was born July 16, 1929, in Kewanee, IL the daughter of James C. and Nina M. (Nelson) Quayle.  She graduated from Kewanee High School, and later attended Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her RN degree and began a career in nursing. 

Betty married Keith R. Jones on June 2, 1951, in Kewanee, IL.  Betty worked many years as a third shift nurse at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo, IL and later became a well-loved school nurse at Northside, Howard, St. Malachy’s and Millikin Elementary Schools in Geneseo. She maintained deep friendships with her fellow school nurses, until her last days.  Betty was a longtime member of First Congregational Church, Geneseo, IL.

By far Betty’s most important roles were those of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Those left to cherish her memory include son and caregiver, David (Debra) Jones, Geneseo, IL, son Gregory Jones, Flower Mound, TX, Son-in-law Richard Matusiak, Billings, MT, Daughter-in-law Patricia McDonald, O’Fallon, IL.  Grandchildren, London Matusiak (Iain McGregor), Ashleigh (Brandon) Roberts, Heather (Mike) Castillo, Kristin (Daniel Kamerling) Jones, Brett (Mallory Casperson) Jones, Adam (Maharah) Jones, Annie (Nicolas) Henthorn, Katie (Chris) Cundiff, Piper (Blake) Johnson.  Great-Grandchildren, Leah, Kendall, Tessa Roberts, Cora, Jackson Castillo; Dustin and Ashlyn Kamerling; Tennyson Jones; James McGregor; Anavah (Jacob) Foss, Asher, Tovah, Talyah, Abel Jones; Silas, Sadie, Sophie, Samuel, Simon, Spencer, Shepherd, Shiloh Henthorn; Rebekah, Keturah, Josiah Cundiff; Steven Johnson.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nina Quayle, husband Keith R. Jones, daughter Kathryn S. Matusiak, son Thomas R. Jones.
