Betty I. Talbot, 92, of Geneseo, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Good Samaritan in Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Geneseo. Reverend David Murphy will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory, Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church.
Betty was born on October 4, 1925, the daughter of William and Lillie (Oelke) Erdman, in Geneseo. She graduated from Geneseo High School with the class of 1943. Betty was united in marriage to Floyd W. Talbot on October 22, 1944. Floyd preceded her in death in 2011. Betty spent her life as a homemaker and raised eight children. She was a longtime member of the Baptist Church where she was very active. Betty was a dedicated volunteer for various organizations and groups, and loved to read, cook, handwork, garden, and can the goods that she grew. Betty was known as a mother and grandmother to many.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Bill (Tammy) Talbot, Concho, AZ, Randy Talbot, Peoria, and Tom (Nancy) Talbot, Johnsburg, IL; daughters, Bonnie (Bruce) Stine, Geneseo, Kathy (Mike) Johnson, Prophetstown, Cindy (Roger) Clayton, Lyndon, IL, Penny (Tony) Haymes, Buffalo, WY, and Kristi (John) Fisher, Geneseo; 18 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sisters, Violet (Don) Fleming and Darla (Gary) Johns, both of Geneseo.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillie, her husband, Floyd, three grandchildren, and two brothers, Donald and Wayne Erdman.
