Betty Ruth Zimmerman, 93, of Geneseo, IL, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Long Term Care Living Center, Geneseo. Cremation rites have been accorded and private family services celebrating her life will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo, with a private inurnment following at Oakwood Cemetery. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.

Betty was born February 16, 1928, the daughter of Francis and Lois (Larimer) Stotmeister, in Perry County, OH. Betty graduated from Geneseo High School, and married the love of her life, Eldon “Zimmy” Zimmerman on July 11, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2016. She was a long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church, an avid book reader, home decorator, and she never met a garage sale she didn’t like. We take comfort in her Faith and promise of Eternal Life, in Christ Jesus.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Francie (Michael) Kolb, Moline, IL, Paula (Timothy) Ziegler, Rock Island, IL, and Lisa (Kirk) Hodgson, Geneseo, IL; grandchildren, Brandon (Letisha) Kolb, Effingham, IL, Nikki (Michael) Porter, Tampa, FL, Adam (Megan) Ziegler, Rock Island, IL, Aaron (Courtney) Ziegler, Rock Island, IL, Jami (Justin) Burbridge, Geneseo, IL, Erica (Eric) Walker, Geneseo, IL, and Cameron Hodgson, Geneseo, IL; thirty one great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lois Stotmeister; and husband, Eldon “Zimmy” Zimmerman.

The family is grateful and thankful for the team at Hammond Henry Hospital, Long Term Care Living Center and Hospice Compassus for their tender loving care and kindness these past years.
