Beverly Chrisop Obituary

Beverly Ferne Chrisop, 90, of Monticello, Indiana passed away peacefully with family on July 8, 2024, at White Oak Legacy Health Campus in Monticello, Indiana. She was born May 13, 1934, in Peoria, Illinois to the late Merwin and Ferne Lees and was raised in Coal Valley, Illinois.  A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory - Geneseo Chapel.  A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.   A private inurnment will be held at a later time at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the P.E.O. Foundation (a philanthropic organization whose mission to support women’s education), Guardian Angel Hospice or the Monticello United Methodist Church.

 

On October 1, 1955, Bev married Elwood “Chick” Boyd at the First Presbyterian Church of Coal Valley.   She worked at John Deere as a secretary until she had children.  They enjoyed family vacations & going to Jon & Bobbi’s activities.  Bev played the piano & in early years the accordion.  She was an accomplished seamstress & taught sewing lessons in her home.  She was unexpectedly preceded in death by her husband, Chick, on December 14, 1977.    After Chick’s death, she attended Respiratory school and then worked in the Quad Cities as a technician.  One of John's cousins would later introduce her to a wonderful man named LeRoy “John” Chrisop, they would soon fall in love and eventually marry on May 23, 1981.

 

She moved to Monticello & made many friends.  She worked at White County Hospital in Monticello until retiring, then continued part-time at Arnett Clinic in Lafayette.  Bev and John shared many years fishing in the upper boundary waters in Northern Canada where they flew in with great friends.  They also loved to take cruises on Holland America to many wonderful places.  Bev also enjoyed herb gardening, crafts, sewing, her church, Home EC club, and was a 50+ year member of P.E.O. sisterhood.  

 

Bev adored her grandchildren and always looking forward to their visits, taking them to “the beach” and they cherished their time as well!  She was also proud to be a great grandma.  Her thankful heart was seen to the end.  

 

Bev is survived by her husband, John Chrisop; a daughter, Roberta “Bobbi” Brady (husband: Paul) of Alpha, IL; a son, Jon Boyd (wife: Kathy) of Naperville, IL; two sisters, Mary Taube of Coal Valley, IL and Shirley Roehrs (husband: Ken) of The Villages, FL; two sister-in-laws, Carol Boyd of Geneseo, IL and Kay Fulnecky of Springfield, MO and a brother-in-law, Grant Chrisop of Monticello, IN.  Bev loved spending time with her grandchildren, Matthew Brady (wife: Shondria), Joanna Brady, Erin Grant (husband: Carter) (great-grandson: August), Jared Brady, Maxwell Boyd (wife: Rachel) and Ally Dykstra (husband: Zach).  Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding her in death with her husband, Elwood “Chick” Boyd, are sister-in-laws, Margaret Thompson, Odetta Thompson, Marjorie Chrisop, Kathleene Sharp and Adel Chrisop; brother-in-laws, Warren Boyd, Edwin Thompson, Calvin Thompson, Jerry Fulnecky, Wayne Taube and Tom Sharp and her parents, Merwin Lees & Ferne Banning.
