Bill G. Rednour, 87, of Atkinson, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Cremation rites have been requested and a memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Grandview Cemetery, in rural Atkinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Atkinson Fire Protection District.
Bill was born February 19, 1937, to Shelby and Florence Marie (Stevenson) Rednour in Cutler, IL. He graduated from ROVA High School, class of 1954, and from the University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences. On April 20, 1957, Bill married Joyce Lundeen, at a service held in Galesburg, IL. His employment history includes working at the Chicago Stockyards, Chicago, IL and being co-owner of the Chicago Atkinson Livestock Market where he worked from 1967 until the sale of the business and his retirement. Bill was an avid fan of the University of Illinois basketball program and the St. Louis Cardinals. His hobbies included his love for gardening, mushroom hunting, and taking care of his yard. He provided amazing care for his wife, Joyce, for many years prior to her death in 2018. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Steve (Deb) Rednour of Rock Island, Scott (Sherie) Rednour of Atkinson, Jill (Mike) Guth of White Heath, IL; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Everett (Sharon) Rednour, Helen Larson, Pat (Jerry) Steck, and Carol Sue (Jim) Boyer; and sisters-in-law, Charlene Rednour and Judy Rylander.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Florence Marie Rednour; his loving wife, Joyce Rednour; brothers, Shelby Rednour, Jr. and Wayne Rednour; sister Betty Davis; and numerous sister and brother in laws.
