Bradley "Brad" Chandler Obituary

Bradley “Brad” J. Chandler, 87, of Geneseo, IL passed away at his home on Thursday, February 13, 2025.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo, IL.  Reverend Stephen Mueller will officiate.  Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Geneseo.  Military rites will be accorded by the Geneseo VFW - Don Cherry Post #5083.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Thursday prior to the service.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting with arrangements, and online condolences may be left at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com.  Memorials may be directed to Concordia Lutheran Academy, 316 S. Bradley was born March 10, 1937, at home in West Jefferson, OH. He was the son of Rena and Mattie (George) Chandler and the 11th of 13 children.  He graduated from North Robinson High School in 1955 and went on to proudly serve in the United States Naval Reserves (Active Duty) from 1956-1958.  Brad married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Jane Morrow on January 27, 1957, and were married for 49 years.  She preceded him in death in June of 2006.  After marriage, they moved to West Germany to work as a civil service contractor at the Ramstein Air Force Base, from 1963-1966, with their young three sons.  In 1967, Brad and Dorothy moved to Altus, OK where he was employed as a civil service contractor at Altus Air Force Base.  While there, they welcomed a daughter to the family.  In 1976, he accepted a position with the Federal Aviation Administration at Quad Cities Airport in Moline, IL.  He continued to work for FAA in various positions located in Moline, at the Chicago Center and Chicago Midway.  Brad retired in 1998 as an Employee Involvement Management Consultant.  He drove a bus after retirement for the Geneseo School District for many years as an employee of Pink’s Bus Service.  He was a member of the Solo Stepper Square Dance Club and enjoyed playing cards and marbles with friends. He was a Phenix Township Trustee and an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed hosting family gatherings and attending many activities with his children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Brad (Tracy) Chandler of Westfield, NC, David (Nancy) Chandler of Broken Arrow, OK, Michael (Carol) Chandler of Annawan, IL, and DeAnna (Russ) Coulter of Geneseo, IL; grandchildren, Tabitha Chandler, Brett (Casey) Chandler, Courtney (Phillip) Long, Bryce (Clarice) Chandler, Scott Chandler, Jennifer (Peter) Chandler, Michael (Yogesh) Chandler, Jessa (Jack) FitzWilliam, Lauren Coulter, Megan (Jesse) Coulter, and Riley Coulter; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Ina Peffley of Shoreview, MN, Ned Chandler of Powell, OH, and Janice Balliett of Tiro, OH; sister-in-law (Dorothy’s twin) Donna Kisor of MN. 

Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Rena and Mattie Chandler; nine siblings; and one great-grandchild.
