Obituary

Brian Atkisson, 61, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. Per Brian’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded and no services will held at this time. He will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery. Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory-Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Brian was born on August 2, 1960, in Decatur, IL, the son of Leon and Phyllis (Grosh) Atkisson. He graduated from Orion High School in 1979, then attended Blackhawk College where he received his degree in Automotive Mechanics. Brian was a forklift operator at John Deere for several years. He was very proud of his 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with the 446 pack that he managed to keep and restore. He loved spending time with his family taking them to antique stores, pawn shops and being outdoors. You could find Brian most of the time going to the shooting range. His family will miss him dearly.  

 

Survivors include his father, Leon Atkisson, children; Preston Atkisson of East Moline, Colton (Rhiannon) Atkisson of Geneseo and Cortney Atkisson of Geneseo, sister, Alyson (Mike) Morrison of Clive, IA, grandchildren; Braydon, Shae, Skilynn, Sadie, Lawson, Shiloh and Kinsley, ex-wife and friend, Bonnie Atkisson.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Atkisson.
