Bruce A. Crosby, 65, of rural Annawan, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 15, 2019, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Emergency Department, Geneseo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Mineral United Methodist Church. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Sheffield, IL. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Bruce Crosby Memorial Fund.
Bruce was born on November 23, 1953, the son of Donald and Dorothy (VanDekeere) Crosby, in Kewanee, IL. He graduated from Annawan High School in 1971, then attended Black Hawk College. He married Deann Shaw on February 12, 1972, in Annawan. Together they raised three daughters, Heidi, Misti, and Kimberli. Bruce was a supervisor at IBP for 21 years, owned/operated Carpet Care Cleaning Service for 19 years, and was currently farming in rural Annawan. He was a member of the Mineral Bolder Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed rolle bolle. Farming was his true passion. Spending time with family meant everything to Bruce.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Deann; daughters, Heidi (Michael) Wise, Normal, IL, Misti (Michael) Thurston, Annawan, son-in-law, Luke Adams; grandchildren, Victoria, Dylan, Hailey, and Brooklyn; mother, Dorothy Crosby, Geneseo; brothers, Richard (Jackie) Crosby, Harvard, IL, James (Shirley) Crosby, Geneseo, John (Sandy) Crosby, Annawan, Mark (Sandy) Crosby, Annawan.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father Don, daughter Kimberli, father and mother in-laws Perle and Dorothy Shaw, nephew Josh Shaw, nephew Aaron Crosby, and niece Stephanie Crosby.
