Carol Elaine Edwards was born on March 20, 1933, in Munson Township, Henry County, Geneseo, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Louis and Marie Gertrude (Bernard) Edwards. Carol attended Murphy and Oak Grove rural schools graduating from eighth grade in 1947. In May 1948, near the completion of her freshman year at Geneseo High School, she became ill with rheumatic fever, later diagnosed as ankylosing spondylitis, and received her diploma after several years of home study. Through all her pain and challenges she never complained. Carol was Hanna-Phenix Township correspondent for the Geneseo Republic for many years, sold greeting cards and did some office work from her home. She was a member of the former Ebenezer Community Church, Women’s Missionary Society and Geneseo Senior Citizens.
Carol is survived by her brother, Bernard (Judy) Edwards of Geneseo; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-great nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie Edwards and infant brother, Kenneth LeRoy Edwards.
The family would like to thank Hillcrest Home Staff and friends, and Compassus Hospice for all their care, love, and support to Carol.
