Carol Joy Kennett, 92, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center, DeKalb, IL. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church 511 Russell Rd A, DeKalb, IL 60115. A visitation will be held before the funeral service, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the church. Another visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel, 580 E. Ogden Avenue, Geneseo, IL, 61254. A private burial will be held at North Cemetery, Geneseo, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Geneseo High School Music Program. Carol was born November 26, 1932, the daughter of Arthur and Marion (Oltrogge) Toepper, in Berwyn, IL. She graduated from Riverside Brookfield High School. On October 23, 1954, Carol married Clayton J. Kennett at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brookfield, IL. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2007. Carol was an office manager at Riverside School District and at a printing company. In her later years she was a longtime volunteer at Hammond Henry Hospital Auxiliary. Always a proud and devoted mother and spouse, Carol’s Christian faith was foremost in her life followed by her love of music.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Carol-Joy Motisi of Hinckley, IL, Keith (Kim) Kennett of Geneseo, grandchildren; Jamie (Cameron) Kotovsky, Stephanie (Parker) Prochaska, and Eric Motisi, great-grandchildren; Charlotte, Mollie, Theodore, Lucas and Isla.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Marion Toepper; her loving husband, Clayton Kennett; sister, Elaine Taylor; brother, Wesley Toepper; and son-in-law, Gerald Motisi.
