Carolyn Alexander, 68, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Allure of Geneseo. Cremation rites have been accorded and no public services will be held per family wishes. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.
Carolyn was born November 2, 1953, the daughter of Merton and Arlene (Nystrom), in Brussels, Belgium. She attended high school and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree. Carolyn gave generously of her time and talents of which there were many. She studied horticulture and enjoyed designing and planting gardens for herself, her family, and the community in which she lived. She was a gifted seamstress and dress designer. She took delight in sewing doll clothes and giving them to family and friends. She was a writer and storyteller; she took the time to write letters of encouragement to family, friends, and community members, expressing appreciation for their contributions to her life. She contributed beauty to the world through her jewelry and Christmas crafts, many of which were given as gifts. The intangible and tangible gifts Carolyn gave remain to remind us of her beauty and generosity of spirit. Carolyn loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In her quiet times, she liked to read hymns. One of her favorite hymns was, “My Jesus I Love Thee”. The words speak to the heart of who Carolyn was and her deep, abiding faith. She also had an appreciation for the beauty of Geneseo. She especially loved her nieces and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory include siblings, Steve (Jane) Alexander, Geneseo, IL, Philip (Shannon) Alexander, Portland, OR, and Kathleen Barich, Valencia, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Merton and Arlene; and brother, James Paul Alexander.
