Casden "Cassie" N. Chapman

Casden “Cassie” Nelle Chapman, 79, of Geneseo, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate.  Inurnment will follow at Erie Cemetery, Erie, IL.  A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the memorial service.  Memorials may be directed to Hillcrest Home – Activities Fund, 14688 IL Highway 82, Geneseo, IL, 61254.

Cassie was born on July 31, 1944, the daughter of George and Edwardine (Vanhall) Olsen, Sr., in Grand Haven, MI.  She grew up in lighthouses along the Great Lakes, was from a military family, and the daughter of a Coast Guard Commander.  On August 1, 1982, she married Andrew Chapman.  He preceded her in death in 2007.  She was employed at General Electric in production until her retirement.  Casden enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, and collecting various items – including dolls and plates.  She especially loved spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, David (Kristen) Graham of Erie, Michael (Amanda) Graham of Hillsdale, Robyn Chapman of Geneseo, Richard Chapman of Geneseo; grandchildren David (Kathleen), Daniel, Cassandra, J.J., Draven, Tommy, Madelyn, and Case; and great-grandchildren, David, Patrick, Bryce, and Violet; and brother, Jens (Phyllis) Olsen of Chicago.

Cassie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edwardine Olsen, Sr.; husband, Andrew Chapman; grandson, Zachary Graham; and brother, George Olsen, Jr.
