Charlotte Mary Capps

Charlotte Mary Capps, 89, of Atkinson, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at her home in Atkinson.  A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  A private inurnment will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Henry County Citizen Senior Center.

Charlotte was born on May 17, 1934, the daughter of Elvi and Virgie (Colyott) Boyer, in Hunter, MO.  She graduated from Mount Vernon High School, class of 1952.  Charlotte and Jack Ray Capps were married on January 3, 1953, at a service held in Belle Rive, IL. She was a devoted gardener - loved flowers and enjoyed crocheting, backyard sales, fishing, and reading in her spare time.  

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jack Capps of Atkinson; children, Larry (Sondra) Capps of Kingston, GA, Theresa (Bright III) Newhouse of Clarendon, TX, Joyce Paxton of Douglas, WY, Janette (Bill) Morgan of Maryville, TN; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister, Jean Giles of Litchfield, MO; a brother, Richard Boyer of Philippines, and a daughter-in-law Denise Capps of Cambridge, IL.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Elvi and Virgie Boyer; son Jerry Capps; grandson, David Capps; and sisters, Virginia Meador and Lena Pullian.
