Cheryl Sue Specht, 63, of East Moline, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Clarissa Cook Hospice Home, Bettendorf, IA. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the funeral home, with the visitation immediately following from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
Cheryl was born January 23, 1961, the daughter of Victor and Betty (Brown) Tracey, in Joliet, IL. She graduated from JD Darnall High School, Geneseo, class of 1979. She was employed as an accountant for hair salons. On August 29, 1981, she married Scott Specht at St. Malachy Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer, wintered in Bonita Springs, Florida, member of Women of the Moose, volunteered at a food pantry in Florida, and enjoyed shopping. She especially loved spending time with her six grandchildren and was looking forward to the new baby that is on the way.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Scott Specht of East Moline; children, Michelle (Garrett) Gripp of Oswego, IL, and Jason (Shana) Specht of DeKalb, IL; grandchildren, Keira Specht, Huck Specht, Dean Specht, Gentry Gripp, Landrie Gripp, Kollie Gripp, and future baby Gripp; siblings, Carol (Louis) Tracey of Geneseo, Nancy (Mark) Argue of Marana, AZ, and Ron (Lori) Tracey of Geneseo.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Betty Tracey.
