Chester “Chet” William Parker, 75, of Maquoketa, IA, formerly of Geneseo, passed away on November 27, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Private graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery-Geneseo. Chet spent the last several years living in Maquoketa, Iowa. Condolences can be left at www.vandemorefuneralhome.com
Chet was born to Spencer and Hazel Parker on January 6, 1948, and grew up in rural Kewanee on the Parker family farm and was Class of ’66 at Geneseo High School. Chester served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Chet married Cheryl Egert in 1970 and together they had 2 children. Sadly, Cheryl passed away in 1980. While life was difficult without Cheryl, Chet managed to provide an adventurous and memorable childhood for his children that he raised in the Quad Cities.
Chet was an avid classic car enthusiast, with a distinct love for Corvettes. You could always find a very animated Chet in front of the tv anytime NFL football was on. Chet’s team was the Chicago Bears for many years, transitioning to the LA Ram's most thunderous fan in more recent years.
Chet’s intellect and engineer mentality was evident in his work through the Army Corps of Engineers, State of Illinois, and Beling Consultants. His family will always think of him driving over the Moline bridge to the Rock Island Arsenal.
Chet’s memories will live on through his son Chance (Angela) Parker, daughter Chandra (David) Wilson; grandchildren Allissa Parker and Jason Parker, and great-grandson Lucas Parker; sisters Shirleybelle (Bill) Crawford, Cindi Ciuffo, and Mary Ann Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chet was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Cheryl, 2 brothers-in-law, and several beloved pets. We take comfort in knowing they are all reunited.
