Claire “Skip” Walton Farnam, 88, of Geneseo, IL, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Geneseo, IL. Reverend Mueller will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Vandemore Funeral Home-Geneseo Chapel, from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Concordia Lutheran Church or AETA (Antique Engine and Tractor Association).
Skip Farnam was born on November 8, 1936, in Kewanee, IL, to Rollin and Cora (West) Farnam. Skip married Janett Roehrs on November 11, 1956, at Concordia Lutheran Church. Skip farmed until 1963, when he went to work for John Deere Plow & Planter Works, retiring in 1995. In his retirement, he worked for 16 years at Cornwall Township and for various seed companies. Skip was a dedicated member of the Antique Engine and Tractor Association of Geneseo and a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janett; children, Bonnie Myers of Geneseo, Sherilyn (Jim) Wethington of Geneseo, Melissa Jensen of Daytona Beach, FL, Rodney (Corrine) Holke-Farnam of Grundy Center, IA; grandchildren: Marlisa (Scott) Dwyer, Bryan (Becky) Myers, Catrina Farnam-Jensen, Molly (Tom) Conlon, Thomas Jensen, Meghan (Max) Haverland, Curt (Elise) Jensen, Genna (Drew Himmelman) Wethington, Jesper (Cherise) Holke-Farnam, Amy Wethington, Josie Holke-Farnam; great-grandchildren, Remlee & Daxton Dwyer, Reagan & Reid Myers, Paislee Jackson, Marshall & Miles Haverland, Cora Conlon, Zane & Truett Jensen; and nephew, Jim Whipple.
Skip was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth, and brother-in-law, LeRoy Whipple; nieces, Joyce Girt and Julie Millhollin, and son-in-law, Mike Myers.
