Claudelia L. (Claudia) Bodine, 92, of Kewanee, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Cremation rites have been accorded, and a service will be held at a later date. Vandemore Funeral Home – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 123 S. Chestnut Street, Kewanee, IL, 61443.
Claudia was born on April 29, 1934, in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick and Anita (Trisler) Marvin. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1952 as co-valedictorian and went on to become a Certified Professional Secretary.
She enjoyed a distinguished 46-year career as a legal secretary and paralegal at Don McRae & Associates Law Firm. Claudia was deeply involved with Professional Secretaries International, serving in numerous leadership roles at both the state and local levels. She was elected Illinois Division President for 1985–1986 and was honored as Woman of the Year by the Kewanee Business and Professional Women in 1986.
A longtime and devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kewanee, she served many years on the Vestry and as the church organist.
Claudia found great joy in her family and friends, and she loved to travel, listen to music, do needlepoint, and read. One of the most rewarding experiences of her life was serving as host mother to Dori Spivak, an AFS exchange student from Israel. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immense happiness and pride throughout her life.
Those to cherish her memory include her children, Linda Pignato and Frederick (Angie) Bodine, both of Kewanee; grandchildren, Tom “TJ” (Stephanie) Otley, Johnnie Hamilton, Autumn Rodgers (Doug), Marissa Whiteside, China Frank, Gabrielle Bodine, Logan Bodine, Shady Bodine, and Anabel Bodin; great-grandchildren, Taylor Otley, Connor Otley, Paige Hamilton, Morgan Hamilton, Leah Hamilton, Drake Frail, Alivia Frail, Anastasia Frail, Roman Frank, Aurora Frank, Kaden Bodine, and Renata Bodine; great-great-grandchildren to two; nieces and nephews, Debbie Blake (Randy), Terry Anne (Rick), Karen (Stan), and Jim Neyt; and many great nieces and nephews.
