Curtis Lee Spensley, 74, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Jackson Ridge Healthcare Center in Maquoketa, IA. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 7 P.M. at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Pastor Terry Lancaster will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 P.M. – 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association.
Curtis Lee Spensley was born on March 11, 1951, in Hazelgreen, WI, the son of E. Melvin and Marie (Distler) Spensley. He met and married Bette Reitz on July 10, 1971 in Galena, IL. Curtis and his wife Bette owned and operated Spensley Insurance in Moline and Geneseo for many years. Curtis served as an Alderman for the city of Geneseo Council. He enjoyed golfing, and watching and coaching basketball. Curtis loved to attend all of his grandchildren’s activities.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Kari Rink of Geneseo, Christopher (Kristin) Spensley of Eldridge, IA, and Joshua (Becky) Spensley of Geneseo, IL; sister, Dianne (Vern) Burlison of Galena, IL; grandchildren, Kaden Rink, Tannen Rink, Jeslen Rink, Carter Spensley, Ethan Spensley, Brandton Spensley, and Drew Spensley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, E. Melvin and Marie; wife, Bette; and brother, Gerald Spensley.
