Daniel Lee Cadogan, 75, of Rock Island, IL, formerly of Geneseo, passed away on April 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Geneseo Chapel with Pastor Don Masterson officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 AM prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials can be made in his name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the American Alzheimer’s Association.
Dan was born in Iowa City, IA, on June 18, 1948, the son of James Lee and Edith Lorraine (Kadera) Cadogan. He graduated from Clinton High School and received his associate degree from Eastern Iowa Community College. He married Karen Mason on March 4, 1981, in Camanche, IA, and she preceded him in death in 2013. Dan served in the United States Navy from 1967-1974 In 2016 he went on his own Honor Flight and was awarded a Quilt of Valor in 2023. He was a manufacturing supervisor for 3M until his retirement. He loved to garden, go fishing, spend time with his family and travel around the world. Dan went to Alaska in his RV, traveled to all 50 states and various countries internationally. He attended Bethel Baptist Church in Port Byron. On April 20, 2024, he was joined with Debbie Lee in a commitment ceremony that united both their families.
Those left to cherish his memory are his partner, Debbie Lee, children: Trent (Eileen) Cadogan and Jennifer (Larry) Myers, brothers: Gary (Sue) Cadogan, Rick (Mindy) Cadogan, and Roger (Lori Sorenson) Cadogan, sisters: Nancy (Ed) Gable and Patty (Chuck) Brockett, grandchildren: Tori (Julian Zwerger) Myers, Samantha (Randall) Cadogan-Phillips, Janelle (Allie) Cadogan, Katie (Austin) Wilkes and Tracie (Hunter Keil) Fravel, great grandchildren: Ellie Phillips, Aurora, and Orion Fravel, aunt, Judy (Hugh) Winslow, Debbie’s family: Katie Lee, Kala Lee, Brianna, Kevin, Emma, and Abby Pollock, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Karen Beitzel.
