Daniel (Dan) J. Fairbanks, 66, went to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while surrounded by family on November 22, 2022, at Kewanee Care Nursing Home, Kewanee. Arrangements by Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson. Cremation rites will be accorded with a graveside service to be held at a future date.
He was born April 30, 1956, in Kewanee, IL, the son of John and Marian (Dhamers) Fairbanks.
Dan was raised on the family farm near Annawan and graduated from Annawan High School, Class of 1975. Dan worked at International Harvester Works in East Moline where he was a welder and machinist. He was a good mechanic and enjoyed working on his own cars and trucks, but mostly his 2007 Harley Sportster. He spent time in Arizona attending motorcycle mechanics’ school. Some of his fondest times were spent with the guys at P&M Performance in Kewanee talking all matters motorcycles. Dan took several long road trips on his bike, Arizona, Sturgis and others. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature, spending many years hunting and fishing. Most importantly, Dan believed in the Lord’s promise for him and spent his life reading his Bible and attending church services whenever he could at First United Methodist Church in Kewanee.
Dan was predeceased by his parents. Surviving is his daughter, Carrie A. Fairbanks of Annawan, a brother Doug (Robin) Fairbanks also of Annawan, several nieces and one nephew.
