Daniel "Dan" Andress Obituary

Daniel “Dan” Edwin Andress, 80, of Geneseo passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Emergency Department, Geneseo, IL.  A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo, IL.  Reverend Laura Kamprath will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., at the church, prior to the funeral service.  Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family.  Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church and the Geneseo VFW- Don Cherry Post 5083.

 

Dan was born January 19, 1944, the son of Ronald D. and Margaret (Noonan) Andress, in Moline, IL.  He graduated from Moline High School, class of 1962.  He married Patsy Carss on December 18, 1965, at a service held at the First Congregational Church, Moline, IL.  He was employed as a welder for H.C. Duke & Son, East Moline, for over 37 years where he worked on Dairy Queen and Electric Freeze machines. 

 

Dan was a lifetime member of the Geneseo VFW – Post 5083, enjoyed drag racing, NASCAR, RV’ing, fishing, and H.O. trains.  He raised three labrador retrievers which performed field trials and show dogs.  His traveling led him to over 24 national parks, as well as 45 states.  He especially loved traveling to California to visit his daughter and family.  He enjoyed going to see his grandson’s football and soccer games and watching his nieces swim, play softball, and basketball for United Township High School.  He was a member of First Lutheran Church.  Dan was a  fan of the Raiders football team for over 57 years and loved NASCAR’s Rusty Wallace.

 

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Patsy Andress of Geneseo; daughter, Michelle (Wayne) VanLerberghe of Torrence, CA; grandchildren, Tyler, R.J., and Andrew; nieces, Lori Gilmore, Kelly Happel;  Robert (Danielle) Gilmore and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Margaret Andress; sister, Patricia Gilmore; and son, Ronald Vincent Andress.
