David Happel Obituary

David Mark Happel, 71, of Cambridge, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 15, 2021, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. A celebration of David's life will be held from 2-5 PM on June 5, 2021 at the Galva American Legion, 45 Wallace Street Galva, IL 61434.

David was born September 15, 1949, the son of Delbert and Olga (Alberts) Happel, in Geneseo. After graduating high school, David proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. After retirement, he was employed as the owner/operator of Triple H Trucking. On November 30, 1999, he married Sally Stephens in a service held in Galesburg, IL. He loved his farm life with his wife, and together they raised many horses, dogs, and cats. He enjoyed collecting IH tractors, and was known to help anyone in need.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sally; children, Mark Happel and Deanna Happel, both of Florida, Danny Stephens, Texas, and Scott Nelson, Silvis; siblings, Bonnie Swanson, Florida, Robert (Anne) Happel, Geneseo, Matthew Happel, Galva, Julie (Vincent) Powell, Geneseo, and Christopher (Deena) Happel, Cambridge; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Al Swanson; son, Donnie Stephens; and nephew, Nicholas Powell.

There are so many friends to thank, especially Brandon (Amanda) Beam, Clayton Nash, and Darrel Hutchinson. You are angels.
