Debbra "Debbie" Rogers Obituary

Debbra “Debbie Mae Rogers met Jesus face to face at 3:05 p.m. on Monday, November 3rd, Year of our Lord 2025.  She was surrounded by family, who sang the hymn, Victory in Jesus moments after she was ushered into the presence of her Savior.  A beautiful testimony of a life well lived. A visitation celebrating her life will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  The funeral will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Geneseo Evangelical Free Church, 914 North Chicago Street, Geneseo, IL, 61254. Cole Hartman will officiate.  She will be interned in a family plot in Morristown Cemetery, rural Henry County.  Please make all gifts and memorials out to the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church, in Debbie’s honor.

Debbra “Debbie” Wolf was born to Billy and Verda Wolf on April 21, 1947, in Geneseo, IL, the oldest of five children.  She was a lifelong citizen of Henry County, graduating from Geneseo High School in 1965.  Debbie married Steve Rogers on April 2, 1966, at First United Methodist Church in Geneseo.  Their marriage and life together were a testimony to the faithfulness and sanctification of the Sovereign God they served.  Through lean and times of plenty, challenge and blessing, their marriage stood as a reflection of Christ and his bride, the church.

In his great kindness, God blessed Steve and Debbie with three daughters; Pamela, Tracy, and Stephanie; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Debbie will be remembered for her devotion to Christ, for loving her family well, her heart of service to others, and her culinary excellence.

Throughout her almost sixty-year marriage, she was found to be a very suitable helpmate, farmhand, and co-laborer for the gospel with her husband.  She was a doting mother and grandmother.  Pouring into her family as an example of selflessness, hard work, loyalty, and faithfulness.  Never wanting the limelight, but constantly and faithfully working and praying behind the scenes.

Throughout her life she prepared baked goods for the local restaurants and businesses, including wedding cakes for many years.  She ran a daycare out of her home for over two decades, loving and teaching countless little ones.  She taught Sunday School with her husband for decades; they raised produce and sold eggs to serve her friends and neighbors well.  She also served their church in countless ways, over the years, as a prayer warrior and ensuring the coffee was always fresh and hot.

One of the greatest joys of her life is knowing that her husband, children, and their spouses were saved by grace through faith, by the risen Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.  She spent countless hours praying for the same for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her desire for them and all whom she knew was for them to:  Repent and be baptized, each one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.  Acts 2:38-39.

Debbie is survived by her mother, Verda (100 years old); her loving husband, Steve; children, Pam Martin (Michael Green) of Apopka, FL, Tracy (Ron) Hartman of Geneseo, IL, and Stephanie (Eric) Bos of Atkinson, IL; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren and counting.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Wolf, and brother, Greg Wolf.
