Dennis "Stemmer" Frew Obituary

Dennis “Stemmer” Lee Frew, 72, of Geneseo, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 16, 2026.  Cremation rights have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Vandemore Funeral Home – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society – Geneseo, 14606 Roos Hill Road, Geneseo, IL, 61254.

Dennis was born on December 2, 1953, in Merced, CA, the son of Robert and Anna Lucille (Favre) Frew. He graduated from Geneseo High School and later attended college. He served proudly in the United States Navy.

Dennis retired from Moors Camp Resort in Gilbertsville, Kentucky. In his later years, he spent his time at the Wolf Road Waystation, where Mike, Red, and the rest of the staff became more than friends; they were family to him. He loved cooking for his friends there and took great joy in the camaraderie he found at the Waystation.

He cherished the outdoors, enjoyed camping and fishing, and he had a deep appreciation for good music. Above all, though, he treasured the time spent with his granddaughters.

Zach, Cody, Andrew, and Danny were like adopted sons to him and were always welcome in his life.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, David Frew of Geneseo; daughter, Bobbie Jo Frew of Geneseo; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Seible of Geneseo; grandchildren, Adriana, Madison, and Willa Frew; sister, Becky (Reid) Umphrey of Douglasville, GA; and brothers, John (Deb) Frew of Layton, UT, and Tom Frew of Cambridge.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Frew; brother, George Frew; and his loyal companion and loving dog, Drake.
