Dian M. Duncan, 79, of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, IA. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, prior to the funeral. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials can be made in Dian’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Dian was born May 31, 1944, the daughter of Everett and Verneil (Hamann) Knowles, in Geneseo, IL. She graduated from Orion High School, class of 1962. On May 27, 1965, Dian married Larry Duncan at a service held in Blue Island, IL. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2002. She was employed over the years at Rinks Market in the deli department and at the Iron Kettle as a waitress. Dian enjoyed playing Yahtzee with the residents at Maple City Apartments and spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Lynette (James) Blaser of Geneseo, Deborah Wheeler of Geneseo, Lisa (Johnny) Etter of Davenport; grandchildren, Justin (Taylan) Blaser, Ken Wheeler, Alyssa (Brandon Salley, Jorden (Lauren) Etter, KJ Etter; great-grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Wheeler, Bentley and Woodsyn Blaser, and Maxwell Etter; siblings, Marvel (Ronald) Van Vooren of Geneseo, Karen Blackman of Coal Valley, Florien (Darrell) Matzen of Orion; brothers-in-law, Ronald Matzen of Orion, Richard Duncan of Davenport, and David (Vicki) Duncan of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Verneil Knowles; husband, Larry Duncan; sister, June Matzen, son-in-law, Ron Wheeler; sister-in-law, Beverly Duncan; brother-in-law, Dale Blackman; and nieces Kelly Oliver and Kara Matzen.
