Dolores M. Morey

Dolores M. Morey, 91, formerly of Cambridge, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Allure of Prophetstown.  A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Fairview United Methodist Church, rural Annawan, IL.  Reverend Renaldo Renteria will officiate.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m., on Wednesday, at the church.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be directed to Fairview United Methodist Church.

Dolores was born in Potosi, MO, on August 15, 1929, to John Donald Smith and Erna (Walton) Smith.  She married John Robert Gustafson on September 19, 1947.  Later she married Lynn Arvid Morey on October 7, 1970.  Both preceded her in death.  She worked for International Harvester for thirty years, retiring from the payroll department.  One of the things she enjoyed doing was playing golf.  Dolores was a charter member of Valley View Country Club.  As she aged, she slowed down and began playing cards and dominoes with her lady friends. 

Dolores had four children, Kevin (Kristi) Gustafson, Lonnie (Susan) Gustafson, Penny (Michael) Hayes, and Marty (Lucia) Gustafson; three stepchildren, Ron Morey, Marty (Nicole) Morey, and Michele (David) Nelson; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Patsy Sims, Janice Fields, Ronald Smith, and Larry Hopper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Erna; husbands, John Robert Gustafson and Lynn Morey; and brothers, Donnie Smith and Johnnie Smith.
