Donald “Don” D. Beck, 93, of Geneseo, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Geneseo. Father Daniel Gifford will celebrate. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. A Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m., prior to the visitation, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Stained-Glass Window Project at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 595 E. Ogden Avenue, Geneseo, IL, 61254.
Don was born February 8, 1931, the son of Benjamin and Cora (Becannon) Beck, in Rest, KS. He graduated from Parsons High School, Parsons, KS, and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. On June 30, 1956, Donald married Vera Kanute in St. Paul, KS. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, during the Korean War. Don enjoyed all types of art – painting rocks, oil painting, and anything involving art. He spent his career at Deere & Co., Moline, as an industrial engineer helping design factories across the country and Germany. He served his community as an Alderman, member of the Library Board, and Scoutmaster.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Vera; children, Janet (Larry) Dawson of Geneseo, Carol (Mike) Roemer of Geneseo, Howard of Geneseo, Duane (Kim) of West Dundee, IL, and Floyd of the Philippines; grandchildren, Devin (Becky) Drehman, Corbyn and Andrea Beck, Miranda, Leah, Colin, and Justin Roemer, Austin Rasmussen, Mikayla and Nick Beck; and four great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Cora Beck; two sisters; and daughter-in-law, Joni Beck.
