Donald Everett Wexell

Donald “Everett” Wexell, 88, of Colona, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Kewanee Care Nursing Home, Kewanee, IL.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the funeral home.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and inurnment will be at a later date at Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, IL.  Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Everett was born July 22, 1933, the son of Leonard and Mildred (Hulsted) Wexell, in Bishop Hill, IL.  He married Verla Wexell in 1956.  They divorced in 1985.  He later met the love of his life, Yvonne Porschke, at a single’s dance and they have spent the last 23 years together.  Some of his fondest memories were dancing with Yvonne.  He farmed most of his life but was also employed at Farm and Fleet and Kewanee Machinery. Everett enjoyed watching birds and traveling.  He considered a stranger just a friend he hadn’t met yet.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving companion, Yvonne; children, Mike (Chris) Wexell, Kewanee, IL, Al (Mary) Wexell, Galva, IL, Larry (Liz), Cambridge, IL, and Chris Wexell, Port St. Lucie, FL; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mildred; and eight siblings.
