Donald “Don” Paul Wattenberg, 77, of Soldotna, Alaska, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport, IA. Per the family's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no services are to be held. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Donald was born January 26, 1947, the son of Henry and Louise (Brunner) Wattenberg, in Denver, CO. He graduated from Fort Lupton High School, Fort Lupton, CO, class of 1965. Don was employed as a cement batch plant operator at C&M Redi-Mix, Brighton, CO. He enjoyed spending his free time volunteering at AMVETS Post 4 and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, John Wattenberg of Geneseo, IL and Jeff Wattenberg of Melbeta, NE; grandchildren, John Wattenberg, Brendan Wattenberg, Briann Wattenberg, and Bryan Wattenberg; and sister, Mary Ledford of Denver, CO.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Louise (Brunner) Wattenberg; three brothers, Jim Wattenberg, Bob Wattenberg, and Fred Wattenberg; and sister, Florence Conter.
