Donna M. Bellovics 92, of Dixon, IL., passed away peacefully at KSB Hospital in Dixon on September 18, 2024. Friends and family of Donna may attend a graveside service, 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will assist the family with arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or Easter Seals on her behalf.
Donna Mae Bellovics (Ohms), was born in Rock Island, IL., to Harry and Mable (Krueger) Ohms. She was a member of the Class of 1950 from Rocky High and was a member of the National Honor Society. Upon obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing Degree, she married Stephen Bellovics. She continued her nursing career beside her husband’s greenhouse and nursery business in Geneseo, first in 1959 -1963, (State Street) then to its current Stewart Street location in 1966.
Donna went on to obtain her Doctorate in Nursing Education and taught nursing at Black Hawk College, Cameron University in Lawton Oklahoma, and ended her career at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. Following the death of her husband in 1995, she traveled extensively until settling in Surprise, Arizona in June of this year when she moved back to be nearer her family and was living at Liberty Court Assisted Living facility in Dixon, IL.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mable (Krueger) Ohms; her sisters Betty and Bernice and her husband Stephen Bellovics.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Michael, Geneseo; her daughter Anne (Robert) Happel, Geneseo, her son George (Patricia) Bellovics, Dixon, Il, grandchildren Audrey (Ryan) Plath, Lindenhurst, IL., Callie (Matt) Jones, Dallas, TX., Levi (Susan) Bellovics, Wichita, KS and Mae Bellovics, Palestine, TX.
