Donna J. (Granell) Capps

Donna J. Capps, 72, of Geneseo, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015, at her home, after a courageous one year battle with pancreatic cancer.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo.  Deacon Harley Chaffee will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Vandemore Funeral Homes, Geneseo.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Memorials may be made to the Donna Capps Memorial Fund.

Donna was born on August 14, 1943, in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Donald and Frances (Keegan) Granell.  She graduated from Geneseo High School in 1961.  Donna was united in marriage to Otis W. Capps on November 27, 1965, in Geneseo, IL.  Donna worked for the Geneseo Telephone Company as an operator.  She later worked at Farm & Fleet in the clothing department and at Walmart in Geneseo as the manager of the clothing department. She retired in 2005.  Donna was a lifelong member of St. Malachy Catholic Church.  She enjoyed fishing, camping, and baking.  She was a very talented crafter.  She was a den leader for the Cub Scouts and a CCD teacher for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Otis; daughter, Cary (Rick) Stach of Geneseo; sons, Jason (Melanie) Capps of Geneseo, and Casey (Angela) Capps of Prophetstown; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, Terry (Paulette) Granell of Geneseo, and Roger (Deb) Granell of Geneseo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rick.
