Donna Jean Gotthardt, 94, of Geneseo, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Alpine Fireside Nursing Home, Rockford, IL. Per the family’s wishes, all services will be private. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Vandemore Funeral Homes Crematory – Geneseo will be assisting the family with arrangements. Prayers of comfort may be made to the family, and memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church, 114 E. Main Street, Geneseo, IL, 61254.
Donna was born September 21, 1930, the daughter of Virgil and Flossie (Hayden) Quayle, in Nekoma, IL. She graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1948. She married Dean Gotthardt on June 4th, 1949. He precedes her in death. Donna was employed by Geneseo Telephone Company and later by the former Farmers National Bank - Wells Fargo, Geneseo, for several years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, Geneseo Historical Museum, and volunteered at Hammond Henry Hospital.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cindy (Darrell) VanHulle of Machesney Park, IL, Glenda (Lee) Youngberg of Bettendorf, IA, and David (Crystal) Gotthardt of South Haven, KS; grandchildren, Christie (Evan) McKearn, Kimberly (Ryan) Stewart, Mark (Sheila) Youngberg, Jessica (Ryan) Jackson, David Gotthardt, Jr., and Caryssa Bowen.; eleven great-grandchildren; and brother, William (Connie) Quayle of Springfield, MO.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Flossie Quayle; husband, Dean Gotthardt; three brothers; and one sister.
