Donna L. Lambin, 90, passed away surrounded by her loving children on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church, Geneseo. Reverend Bruce Bergthold will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be held 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Donna Lambin Memorial Fund.
Donna was born on June 2, 1931, the daughter of Theodore and Dorothy (Schrader) Hanmer, in Rockford, IL. She graduated from Coal Valley High School in 1949. On December 31, 1950, Donna married Edward V. Lambin at a service held in Coal Valley, IL. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2013, after 62 years of marriage. Together they were a fixture of downtown Geneseo when they owned and operated Lambin Jewelers. The jewelry store continues to be family owned and operated to this day. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking, crocheting, solving jigsaw and word puzzles, and all types of music. She enjoyed playing the organ, and also had a secret talent of playing the harmonica. She especially loved her children, sisters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Donna loved watching all the grandchildren’s various activities. She was an avid Cubs fan. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Women, and Women of The Moose Lodge.
Donna is survived by her children, Toni (Gary Dzekunskas) Quayle, Geneseo, Kelli (Jim) Williams, Geneseo, Bob Lambin, Geneseo, and Ron Lambin, Geneseo; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janet Vanderheyden, Geneseo, and Vonnie Wolking, Moline.
She was welcomed into Heaven into the loving arms of her parents, Theodore and Dorothy; her loving husband, Edward; grandsons, Maice and Alex; and brothers, Gene and Teddy.
