Donna Jean Taets Grieve

Donna Jean Taets Grieve, 89, of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Allure of Geneseo. A memorial service will be held at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2 pm. Recitation of the rosary will begin at 12:30pm. Deacon Tom Gainey will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service form 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St Jude’s Children Hospital or Wounded Warriors.

Donna Jean Taets Grieve was born on October 17, 1935, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Russell) Hull. She graduated from Moline High School. Donna married Francis Taets in 1954. He precedes her in death. She later married Dean Grieve in 1994. He also precedes her in death. Donna worked in the registration office at Black Hawk College in Moline for 27 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed roller skating, bowling, dancing, and playing cards. She was a member of the Colona Jr. Women’s Club and the Women of the Moose. Donna loved to take trips to the casino. She took great pride and joy in attending all her grandchildren’s activities.

Those left to cherish her memory include sons, James (Lynn) Taets of Littleton, CO, and Charles (Theresa) Taets of Geneseo, IL; daughter Lee Ann (Paul) Hammett of Mountainview, AR, Gina (Keith) Peterson of Geneseo, IL; son in law, Daune Foster of Sherrard, IL; sister, Carol Gotthardt of Rock Island, IL; grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, Nicholas Foster, Phil Taets, Courtney Zobrist, Kelsey Taets, Travis Specht, Bobbi Casas, Ashley Moore, Shawna Taets, Derek Taets; and 24 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Hull; her husbands, Francis Taets and Dean Grieve; daughter, Karen Foster; brother, James Hull; sisters, Sandra Kellett, Kathy Williams and Ruth Ann Miller.
