Dr. Julio Ramos, M.D.

Dr. Julio A. Ramos, 61, of Canton, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 23, 2020, while working in the emergency department at Graham Hospital, Canton, IL.  A private funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2020, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Reverend Jerry Rafalko will officiate. The service will be live-streamed on the Vandemore Funeral Home Facebook page for family and friends not able to attend due to COVID-19 guidelines. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service, and a private inurnment will be held later in Lima, Peru.  Memorials may be directed to the Dr. Julio Ramos Memorial Fund.

Julio was born October 10, 1958, the son of Wilfredo Orlando Ramos Valdivieso and Isabel Estela Garcia Ramos, in Lima, Peru.  He graduated high school in Peru, and later received his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal, Lima, Peru.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.  He was a member of the Catholic faith.  Dr. Ramos was a long-time family physician with Dr. Satkauskas and Dr. Jeffries at Unity Point.  He also practiced as an emergency room physician at Graham Hospital, Canton, IL, and Hammond Henry Hospital, Geneseo. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Julio O. Ramos, Los Angeles, CA, and Luis Angel Ramos, Peru; and special friend, Carolyn Cathelyn, Annawan, IL.
