Dwayne Lee Maeltzer, 90, of Cape Girardeau, MO, formerly of Geneseo, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded a Masonic Service presented by Steward Lodge #92 A.F. & A.M will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service will imediately follow on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, immediately following the service. Geneseo VFW - Don Cherry Post #5083 will accord military honors. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to the funeral service. There will be a luncheon held at Grace Methodist Church, Geneseo, beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Kidney Foundation (kidneyfund.org).
Dwayne was born September 17, 1933, in Geneseo, the son of Vernon and Helen (Vianne) Maeltzer. He graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1951. Dwayne and Mary Ann Anderson were married September 24, 1955, in Geneseo. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Geneseo Masonic Lodge and Fraternal Order of Moose. He worked in the family business – Maeltzer’s Frame and Axle, and then later for Crowe Ford Sales, Geneseo, and John Deere Parts Depot, Milan.
Loving survivors include his widow , Mary Ann (Anderson) Maeltzer of Cape Girardeau, MO; son, Scott (Aileen) Maeltzer of Moncks Corner, SC; daughter, Tammy (Don) Frazier of Jackson, MO; grandchildren, Tyra (Gregory) Hunt of Auburndale, FL, Amber Riggs of Cape Girardeau, MO, Corey Maeltzer of Simpsonville, SC, and Michael (Olivia) Maeltzer of Virginia; and great-grandchildren, Zana Riggs of Jackson, MO, and Fisher Hunt of Auburndale, FL.
