Edna Pauline York, 87, of Geneseo, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. Cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held at a later date. Edna was born on September 26, 1933, the daughter of Elmer and Emma (Willliams) Prince, in Mill Shoals, IL. She graduated from high school in Carmi, IL and went on to attend two years of college. She married Chelsea Carl York in 1950 at a service held in Mill Shoals. He preceded her in death in 2016. She was employed as a bookkeeper with the East Moline School District, wrote taxes for the State of Illinois for over 25 years, and owned her own accounting firm, Edna’s Tax Service, in Silvis, IL. When she retired, she moved to a home in Colona, IL, along the Rock River. Edna was a member of the WWII Veterans Woman’s Organization. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and doll making.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Christine (Dean) Talbot, Grand Junction, CO; granddaughters, Stephanie (Jim) Adamson and Katherine (Denny) McFadden; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Adamson, Jacob Adamson, and Brody McFadden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Emma; son, Dan York; brother, Tom Prince; and sisters, Marie Prince and Mary Lou Prince.
