Elizabeth Alice Bjork, 89, formerly of Osco, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Allure in Geneseo.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, 1:30 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 8948 N. 1900th Avenue, Geneseo, IL with Reverend Timothy Nerud officiating. Burial will follow at Western Township Cemetery, Orion, IL. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at the church. Vandemore Funeral Homes, Geneseo, IL, is coordinating arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) or Lutheran World Relief.
Elizabeth was born on July 19, 1935, in Moline, IL, to Albert and Alice (Grabow) Schroeder. She grew up near Orion, IL, attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Rock Island, IL, and graduated from Orion High School in 1953. On November 12, 1955, Elizabeth married Raymond O. Bjork at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, IL. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, farming and helping others.
As a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Elizabeth volunteered within the church, supported missions, and lent a hand to family, friends, and the community. Among her talents, she was known for her warm and welcoming kitchen, cinnamon rolls, homemade meals, perfectly stitched quilts, sewing, and gardening. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth was known as Grandma B. and rarely missed a sporting event, 4-H show, or music program. She possessed joy in spending time with her family and leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and generosity.
Elizabeth’s memory will be treasured by her children, Steven Bjork, Sycamore, IL, Julie (Bruce) Bennett, Moline, IL, Becky Seys, Normal, IL, and Theresa (Teri), (Paul) Mosher, of Geneseo, IL; Grandchildren, Paige (Brett) Bjork-Weaver, Jacob Bjork, Chris (Candy) Seys, Megan (Todd) Dwyer, Nicholas Seys, Allison (Scott) Preston, Pace (Megan) Bennett, Craig (Kirstin) Mosher, Kristin Mosher (Rufus Hamby), and Stephanie (Algerson) Andre; Great-grandchildren, Nathan, Hailey, Lindsey, and Gracie Dwyer, Kristina Smith, Jack and Scotlyn Preston, Palmer, Tatum, and Bowen Bennett, Madeline and Lincoln Mosher, and Andonis Andre; Sister, Alma Sigler, and Sister-in-law, Betty Josephson.
Elizabeth is now reunited in heaven with her husband, Raymond Bjork, parents, Albert and Alice Schroeder, brothers, Martin Schroeder and Herman Schroeder, and great-granddaughter, Blaine Bennett.
