Elsie was born in Moline, IL on December 14, 1936, the daughter of Harold and Anna (Bergstrom) Nelson. She married Richard Polmateer in 1957, and he survives. Elsie graduated from United Township High School (UT), East Moline, in 1954. She went on to Moline public school of nursing and graduated in 1959, as a R.N. Elsie was a lifelong nurse caring for others at Moline Public, East Moline State Hospital, Trinity Rock Island and a Parish Nurse at her church. Her and Richard were life members at Geneseo Evangelical Church which they helped start. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and caring nature. She enjoyed playing the piano at church, reading, cross-stitch, collecting books and reading her Bible.

Elsie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard, children; Debra Demers of Atkinson, Julie (Greg) Lindner of Johnson Creek, WI, Rick Polmateer of Osco and Lisa K. (Todd) Lease of Geneseo, brother, Stanley R. (Nancy) Nelson of Moline, grandchildren; Adam (Kaity) Lindner, Melissa (John) Davey, Connor Lease and Carter Lease, great grandchildren; Benjamin, Owen and Ethan Davey along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, N. Roland Nelson.

Though Elsie knew that she would leave,
she didn't know quite when.
But Jesus knew and called her home,
her time on Earth to end.

Elsie longed to be with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shed His blood and died for us
on Calvary's cross. Having paid the penalty for our sins He was buried and rose again the third
day and seen alive by many witnesses. Elsie has eternal salvation because she trusted in Jesus
as her Savior. We hope you have trusted in Him as your Savior, too. (John 3:16-18)
