Emil George Anthony

Emil George Anthony, 82, of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at his home.  Per the family’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are to be held.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Henry County Humane Society - Geneseo, 14606 Roos Hill Road, Geneseo, IL, 61254.

Emil was born August 18, 1940, the son of Emil and Violet (Surdick) Anthony, in Kewanee, IL.  He graduated from Wethersfield High School, class of 1958.  Emil married Judith Harden at a service held in Galva in 1985.  He retired from the casino.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and watching sports.    He especially loved his family and his dog Butch.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Judith of Geneseo; children, John (Diane) Anthony of Hesperia, CA, Chuck (Amy) Polowy of Geneseo, Julie Anthony of Hesperia, CA, Angela (Bob Nussear) Polowy, and stepson, Matthew Harden of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Andrew Anthony, Jonathan Anthony, Breanna McArthur, Kristin Polowy, Jacob Polowy, Jack Polowy, and Eric Polowy; step-grandchildren, Cora and Collin; and great-grandchildren, Cole Anthony, Marcus McArthur, Jr., and Mason McArthur.

Emil was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Violet Anthony; sister Carolyn (Jack) Kratzburg; and daughter, Melissa Polowy.
