Erna Ida Rowold

Erna Ida Rowold, 100, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Allure of Geneseo. Cremation rites have been accorded. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family.

Erna was born on August 4, 1925 in Cedar County, Iowa, the daughter of August and Ella (Beuthein) Horman. She married Merle Rowold. He precedes her in death. Erna worked as a cook at Hammond Henry Hospital for many years. She was a life long member of the United Methodist Church in Geneseo. Erna was always very devoted to her faith. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, baking and being at church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Larry (Roberta) Rowold, Lavern Rowold; daughter, Linda (Larry) Charlet; many grandchildren and great greandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Ella; husband, Merle Rowold; and son, Les Rowold.
