Eugene “Gene” D. Kuelper, 55, of Tampico, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Emergency Department, Geneseo. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Hooppole Cemetery, Hooppole, IL. Reverend Terry Lancaster will officiate. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Gene was born June 6, 1965, the son of Jack and Judith (Morse) Kuelper, in Sterling, IL. He graduated from Tampico High School. He was employed as an equipment operator for Green River Drainage District. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was known for the care he showed when rehabilitating injured animals. He especially loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Judith Kuelper, Wyanet, IL; children, Lexy (Kody) Thomas, New Bedford, IL, Chase (Amanda) Kuelper, Annawan, IL, and Tanner Kuelper, Iowa City, IA; grandchildren, Everett, Kayson, Tucker, and Henderson; sister, Korina (Dennis) Nichols, Princeton, IL; and brother, Cory Kuelper, Wyanet, IL.
