Eugene “Ivan” DeDecker, 72, of Atkinson, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center – Illini Campus. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Atkinson Chapel. Jeff Roman will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Atkinson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Eugene “Ivan” DeDecker Memorial Fund.
Ivan was born May 7, 1949, the son of Eli and Josephine (Wells) DeDecker, in Geneseo, IL. He graduated from Atkinson high school in 1967. On August 5, 1989, he married Barbara Ann (Stahl) Goosens. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2019. Ivan retired from welding and fabricating at Hyster after 45 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting, wood working and playing cards with his friends. You could often find Ivan at local car shows with his 1976 Chevy Monte Carlo. - He was a member at the Atkinson Bolders Club, the Geneseo Moose Lodge, and was a volunteer fireman for several years for the Atkinson Fire Department. Ivan loved watching the Green Bay Packers and was an avid fan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Leon (Ruth) DeDecker of Annawan; nephew, Marty (Beth) DeDecker of Annawan; niece, Dawn (Tim) Tilp of Rock Island; 4 great nieces and nephews; 2 great-great niece and nephew; stepson, Travis (Jennifer) Goossens of Prophetstown; stepdaughter, Angie (Todd) Clarke of LeRoy and 4 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Barbara.
