Gary Wayne Carrington

Gary Wayne Carrington, 79, of Annawan, IL, passed away on December 9, 2024, at OSF Medical Center in Peoria. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory-Atkinson Chapel with Pastor Terry Lancaster officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Mineral Cemetery. Memorials can be made in his name to the Henry Co. Gary was born in Kewanee, IL, on May 31, 1945, the son of Floyd and Lillian (McGinnis) Carrington. He graduated from Annawan High School Class of 1964. He married Sharon Woods on July 25, 1970, and later divorced. Gary then married Vicki Van Herzeele on April 25, 2009. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2024. Gary proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the Hooppole American Legion Post 1191. Before retiring he worked for Barcol Overdoor, American Eagle Buildings and several other jobs. He enjoyed watching football, being outdoors and taking care of the farm, along with raising his dogs, “Maverick” and “Boone”.

Those left to cherish his memory are children; Tonya (Jeff) Brown of Annawan, Sheri (Dwaine) Shaw of Annawan, Crystal Carrington of Annawan and Jennifer (Charlie) Harker of Mineral, sister, Donna Hermie of Annawan, grandchildren; Kelsey (Calvin) Baele, Taylor Shaw, Brendon Shaw, Isaac Shaw, Zachary Harker, Brynn Harker and Nathan Harker, great grandchildren; Caden Baele, Weston Baele, Carson Baele and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lillian Carrington, loving wife, Vicki Carrington, sister, Elaine Miller and brother-in-law, James Hermie.
