Gerald R. DeJaeger

Gerald Richard DeJaeger, 84, of Geneseo, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at his home.  A private funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo.  Reverend Matt Kamprath will officiate.  Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel.  Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church, contact details can be found at www.firstgeneseo.org.

Gerald was born July 3, 1936, the son of Richard and Violet (Fiedler) DeJaeger, in Moline, IL.  He graduated from Alleman High School and went on to attend St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IA.  On September 21, 1957, he married Sharon Johnson.  She preceded him in death.  He was employed in the IT Department at John Deere until his retirement.  He was a member of the Geneseo Grid Club that follows the Geneseo High School football team.  He enjoyed being involved with horses and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish memory include his children, Ken (Joy) DeJaeger, Norwalk, CT, and Kathie DeJaeger, Geneseo;  daughter-in-law, Kathy DeJaeger, Geneseo, grandchildren, Darren, Tara, Tes, and Mia; and great grandchildren, Benjamin, Shae, and Aiden; brother, David (Melinda) DeJaeger, Denver, CO.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon; son, Kevin DeJaeger; and sister, Judy Dasso.
