Gladys Mae Hulting

Gladys Mae Hulting, 97, of Geneseo, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Hammond Henry Hospital – Long Term Care Center, Geneseo.  A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo.  Reverend Matt Kamprath will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., prior to the funeral service at the church.  Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be directed in Gladys’ honor to First Lutheran Church, 114 E. Main Street, Geneseo, IL, 61254, or the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Gladys.

Gladys was born January 9, 1926, the daughter of William and Ina (Weaver) Weber, in Geneseo, IL.  She graduated from Geneseo High School.  She married Mauritz “Maury” Hulting on February 24, 1949, at Loraine Church Parsonage.  He preceded her in death on October 1, 2017.  Gladys was proud to be the first woman church council member and remained an active member of First Lutheran Church throughout the years.  She was part of a Supper Club group for more than fifty years, and Neighborhood Club for many years.  Gladys enjoyed spending time with family, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughters, Carol (Jim) Breczinski of Minnetonka, MN, Gail (Norm) Hutchinson of Geneseo, and Sharon (Jim) Greif of Monticello, IA; grandchildren, Lora Breczinski, William (Chloe) Breczinski, Gloria (Ryan) Brock, Dan (Becca) Hutchinson, Peter Greif, Nick (Allison) Greif, Kate Greif; eight great-grandchildren; and brother Dale (Mary Jane) Weber of Corvallis, OR.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ina Weber; and her loving husband Maury Hulting.
