Helen Beuseling Obituary

Helen L. Beuseling, 96, of Geneseo, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. Father Daniel Gifford will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the church before mass begins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Helen was born in Atkinson, IL on the family farm on February 26, 1928, the daughter of August and Clara (DePaepe) Moens. She attended Mount Sunny Grade School and graduated from Atkinson High School in 1946.

Helen married Wilbur Beuseling on June 3, 1950, at St Anthony’s Catholic Church in Atkinson. Helen was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. Her and Wilbur farmed in the Cambridge area until 1990, then retired and moved to Geneseo. In the early years of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Cambridge, she taught CCD religion class. Helen was the treasurer of the first organization of the Altar and Rosary Society within that church. She was later a member of St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. Helen enjoyed music, gardening, and visiting with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kaye (Clyde) Maertens of Cambridge and Bruce (Lisa) Beuseling of Cambridge; grandchildren, Todd Maertens, Kurt (Jennifer Maertens, Brad (Jennifer) Maertens, Kevin and Laura Beuseling; great grandchildren, Ayla, Emmalyn, Hadley, and Jase Maertens; siblings, Arlene (Dave) Pacquer of Kewanee, Darlene (Maurice) DeSutter of Woodhull, and Carolyn Burke of Geneseo.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; parents August and Clara Moens; sister, Rachel Mock; brothers, Richard, Leonard and Vernon Moens, and twin brother Ralph Moens.
