Helen L. Wallingford, 84, of Cambridge, IL passed away on August 15, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. A memorial visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory-Geneseo Chapel. Helen was born on December 22, 1937, in Kirkland, WA the daughter of Leo Robert and Anna Kathryn (Boney) Brown. She married Richard R. Wallingford on April 19, 1958, and he preceded her in death after 60 years of marriage on April 26, 2019. She enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, sewing, embroidery, calligraphy, gardening, listening to music and solving nightly cryptograms. Helen loved to travel to national parks and visit her family all over the country. She especially enjoyed her monthly luncheons with classmates she kept in touch with over the years. Her love for reading led her to the Cambridge Library where she loved to spend her free time as well as going around to local businesses and showing her support.
Helen is survived by her children; Richard (Dawn) Wallingford of Ames, IA, Jane (Samuel) Putnam of Topsham, ME and son-in-law, Joseph Sheahan of Cambridge, IL, sister, Betty Harris of Moline, IL, eight grandchildren; Elizabeth, Miles and Jessicah Wallingford, Sara and Amy Putnam, Natalie Herman, Devin and Keegan Sheahan and two great grandchildren, Atlas and Knox Herman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Anna Sheahan, sister, Leona Hill and brother, Robert Brown.
